Hello ILT students! As the summer winds down and you get into the swing of fall, I hope that you all remain aware of the services that are available to you as graduate students here at UTSA:
Computer labs: There are computer labs available throughout campus, including labs specifically for College of Education students!
Computer software: There is a software store on campus which sells computer programs at a fraction of the cost that you would spend at other places. Microsoft Office, for example, is only $33.00!
The Recreation Center: A full gym is available on campus complete with weights, cardio machines, group exercise classes, demo kitches, even pools and a lazy river! This is included in your tuition and fees; all you need is your student ID!
Health Services: Parking congestion giving you a headache? You can stop by Health Services to pick up something for that! Feeling under the weather and would like to see a nurse! Stop by health services! Their office is straight across from the Rec Center on Main campus or in the Frio Street building downtown.
Free workshops sponsored by the Graduate School and the UTSA libraries range from subjects like doing research at the library to APA formatting. There are also seminars for thesis and dissertation support! The Graduate Student Learning Assistance program out of the Tomas Rivera Center for Student Success offers similar workshops aimed at developing skills like research and writing to help you succeed in graduate school!
So much is available to graduate students, and we encourage students to take advantage! If you ever have questions, please contact your friendly Student Development Specialists!
This blog is designed for prospective and current students for our department as well as alumni, faculty, and staff!

Welcome to the new school year!
The new school year is approaching which is always a hectic time for all of us-students, faculty, and staff alike! Here is some important information to share with everyone as the school year approaches:
Tuition and fees are due by 5:00pm on August 18! Please remember to accept any financial aid, set up payment arrangements with Fiscal Services, or pay your bill in full by this date. If you do not, you risk getting dropped from your courses. If you are dropped from your courses and your seat is snatched up, there is not guarantee you will get back in!!
If there are classes that you have your eye on but they are closed, you can try to enroll in classes beginning on August 20 (for students already enrolled in other courses) or August 22 (for those who have not registered yet). Seats generally open up in every course for students who did not listen to the advice I shared in the above lines!
The first day of classes is Wednesday, August 25. Remember to buy your parking permits, obtain your student ID, order your books, and make any other arrangements as soon as you can! The parking and UTSACard offices are now located together in the same location, Business Auxilary Services, in the Multidisciplinary Sciences building, MS 1.01.52.
Census Day is September 10. After this date, you will not be allowed to add any other classes, so make sure that all prior arrangements (financial or otherwise) are made before then and that you are happy with the courses you are enrolled in for the semester.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with the Student Development Specialists!
Erin Doran: erin.doran@utsa.edu or 210-458-7443
Mallory Banks: mallory.banks@utsa.edu or 210-458-5424
Good luck this semester, and I hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer! Stay cool!
